Michelle Chavira

Michelle Chavira participated in the “Hire YOUth” Summer Youth Employment Program in the summer of 2009. While in the program, she worked as a bookkeeper and clerk for the Director of Accounts and Budget Office in Lewisburg at the Marshall County Courthouse Annex. “The Summer Youth Program gave me the opportunity to work in a position that I would have not normally been able to get without having completed my degree as of yet,” explained Chavira.

As a single mom, she is currently a junior at Martin Methodist College in Pulaski, TN. Majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology, her plan after graduation is to get a job as a probation officer. Her ultimate goal is then to be the Director of Probations. “I want to work in the Criminal Justice field while still working the counciling aspect,” stated Chavira.

Michelle entered into the Marshall County Recovery Program at the first job fair and was hired by Buffalo Valley. Michelle explained that “being in this program has been a great experience. It’s different than just being in the classroom learning techniques and theories. I’m actually doing what I’ve been learning.”
