The Tennessee Career Centers under the South Central Tennessee Workforce Alliance are introducing the "Hire YOUth!" Summer Youth Employment Initiative.

"Hire YOUth!" is made possible by the stimulus package – American Recovery & Reinvestment Act of 2009.

Eligible, young adults ages 14 to 24 are placed in summer internships with private industry, private/public business and non-profit organizations in Giles, Hickman, Lawrence, Lewis, Marshall, Maury, Perry, and Wayne Counties. The goal of the "Hire YOUth!" Summer Youth Employment Initiative is to teach our future workforce career readiness skills, work ethics, and the skills necessary for success in the workplace.

The internships enable young adults to have a job, gain valuable work experience, earn a wage, and reinvest those wages back into the local economy.

***Special Note:

Update (6/16/10)-2010 Hire Youth Summer Program

The Senate has not approved the Summer Youth bill for 2010. Therefore, the South Central TN Workforce Alliance will not be able to provide a Summer Youth Employment Program for the summer of 2010. Please continue to visit our website for important updates and information.
