GED Information
GED stands for “General Educational Development” and is sometimes referred to as General Education Diploma.
The GED Tests are designed to measure the skill and concepts generally associated with four years of regular high school instruction. The GED Test is a battery of five tests which can be administered only through an official GED Testing Center. Each of the five tests uses a multiple-choice question format and every GED candidate must satisfactorily complete a timed essay on an assigned topic.
Below is a summary of the five sections of the GED:

How do I register for the GED test?
To register for the GED Test, you must have completed the Official Practice Test that is administered by Project Learn staff. We will have you fill out the paperwork while you are in the Adult Education Center and deliver it to the Testing Center for you. You must register at least one week before the scheduled test date. You cannot register and test on the same date. Payment is required for complete registration. $65.00 for full battery. $13.00 per subject for partial testing.
Eligibility Requirements:
The applicant must be at least 18 years of age and not have received a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate. Individuals who are seventeen (17) may be tested, providing the applicant:
- presents to the Test Examiner an age waiver signed by the superintendent of the school system where the applicant resides, and
- is not presently enrolled in high school, or
- is currently enrolled in a state approved GED® Option Program.
All applicants must present identification before testing. Driver's licenses, valid passports, military IDs, or other forms of government issued (national or foreign) identification that show name, address, date of birth, signature, and photograph are acceptable forms of identification. Outdated identification will not be accepted.
Candidates must provide Official Practice Scores notarized by their Local Adult Education. Students are allowed to retest three (3) times per contract year.
